This is Alex & Kim.
We are Overwinter Farm.
It all began after a chance meeting in 2017 between two farmers in the gardens at Sleeping Lady, beneath the towering Enchantments. They’ve been digging in the soil together ever since.
Tell me more…
Overwinter Farm grows a variety of vegetables and flowers using small scale, intensive farming methods and equipment. We work for the biology in our soil that feeds our plants and support this system through annual compost applications, minimal tillage, permanent bed systems, cover crops, and multi-species plantings to name a few. We use only certified organic approved amendments and controls. These practices foster an ecosystem of health, diversity and abundance.
We don’t know it all…
We are just beginning to discover what real soil health is; how soil biology fosters plant health, how an optimal system creates nutrient dense plants, and how we can support these highly sophisticated and interconnected systems. As farmers we are continually learning from others, experimenting with new ways to grow food and steward our land, and seeing the results in the health and vigor of our plants and soil. But we still have more to learn, and that’s the beauty and joy of being a farmer.
Our farm runs on passion. It has since day one. As the farm enters its fifth season, that passion has only continued to grow, and it seeps into all aspects of the farm…especially its health. We want to say thanks to all our customers for supporting locally grown produce. We have been blown away by the support we have received around the valley and look forward to building upon that as our farm continues to grow and evolve.
